We are happy to announce that one of our productions, Slave Island, directed by Jimmy Hendrickx and Jeremy Kewuan and produced by Kristian Van der Heyden, has been awarded the prestigious ESoDoc Mentoring Prize at Take on Film & Impact 2022!
This recognition provides the team with one-on-one mentorship from an ESoDoc expert and access to exclusive online screenings—support that will help strengthen their storytelling and impact.
Slave Island takes us to the stunning Sumba Island, where an unthinkable practice still exists. Some young women and children are subjected to Pasung— a practice of being chained to wooden blocks in an effort to expel alleged demons. What begins as an exploration of a hidden paradise soon reveals a heartbreaking reality of modern-day slavery.
Congratulations to the entire team for receiving this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to seeing their work spark much-needed conversations on this urgent issue.
